IPv6 is the long term solution to the Internet running out of IPv4 addresses. We’ll all have to learn how to network with IPv6 sooner or later.

The nice thing about IPv6 is that subnetting is a lot easier – best practice is to always use a /64 subnet mask for all networks with end hosts. This can lead to a lot of ‘wasted’ addresses, but the IPv6 address space is so large that it isn’t a concern.
